Fashion is everywhere!
Good designs, comfortable fabrics, countless choices, unlimited brands. But for us, Nilam India isn’t just about selling clothes and forcing you to wear us.
When our family started this journey, we were just kids, too young to understand the true impact. But we’ve seen firsthand how these handcrafted pieces bring livelihoods to artisans embracing true talent and
creating something truly meaningful for our customers.
Nilam India was born from a simple belief.

Deliver exceptional qualitythat’s accessible to all.

Recognize and celebrate true artistry.

Bring a touch of freshness to your customers’ lives.

Inspire fashion choices that truly matter.
We’ve seen firsthand what lack of support, appreciation, and insecurity can do to a craft and we know together we can
create something impactful.
Behind every reorder and new collection that we create, there's an artisan in a remote
Indian village, someone who may not know the trends of the world but carries centuries of skill in their hands. And, they
create with such grace, patience, and passion.
Today we work with
50+ Artisans
4+ Stitching Units
20+ Blockmakers

What truly matters is how it’s made. Because when you choose us, you’re not just making a purchase; you’re giving an opportunity for us to show our work, our artisans to make you feel good, and becoming a part of a movement that values craftsmanship and conscious fashion.
Our Mindful Contributions and Intentions

Sustainable Fabric
Over 90% of our fabrics are 100% pure cotton, free from synthetics or blends.
Why does this matter?
- Because pure cotton is nature’s gift - breathable, soft, and durable, keeping you comfortable while letting your skin breathe.
- A healthier and non toxic choice for your skin and overall well-being.
- Being biodegradable, aligns with slow fashion and the beauty of handcrafted garments.
We are more concerned about the remaining 10% and we aim to bring more natural fibers in next 2 years.
Packaging
Let’s talk real. Packaging is one of the biggest challenges in sustainability.
Why does this matter?
- We wrap our products in butter paper, write notes on seed paper, and pack them in paper bag covers.
- The only plastic? The mandatory shipping cover, but we’re always looking for better alternatives.
Breaking up with plastic isn’t easy, but reducing it? Absolutely possible. And together, we can make a difference.
Colors
Colours that doesn't go away, what’s even more beautiful?
- All our colors come from eco-friendly dyes, and they’re AZO-FREE, meaning no harmful chemicals, just pure safety for your skin.
- Eco Friendly dyes age gracefully, developing a soft, vintage look that only enhances the charm over time.
- And these colours doesn't fade away, wash after wash after wash!
What about the Wastage?
Can we truly achieve 0% wastage in the fashion industry? The answer is a resounding yes! And we’re already making it happen.
How?
- Through slow fashion process, we’re turning every cut piece and leftover fabric into something beautiful like tote bags, pouches, sling bags, hand napkins, scrunchies, and much more.
- These items are sold at exhibitions or given as FREE gifts, ensuring nothing is wasted and every piece serves a purpose.
- We do not produce more than required and hence our production is mindful.
Production
From carving wooden blocks to hand-block printing to stitching, it takes us three months to bring a piece to life.
- We take it slow, we embrace patience, and we produce only what's required.
- We choose craftsmanship over speed, purpose over profit. Even if it means slower production and smaller batches.
- Currently we operate from Jaiour for production with a small team.
Competition
Our hearts feel full seeing so many handcrafted labels thriving, working alongside Indian artisans, and keeping our rich heritage and talent alive. It’s even more beautiful to witness international brands recognizing the talent in our country, creating opportunities for artisans, stitching units, and production houses. We don’t see such fellow brands as competition; we see them as allies. Together, we are the voices of slow fashion and mindful fashion choices.
Little Things Matter
Currently, our clothing labels are made from cotton, and our size labels are polyester. But we’re not stopping there, by the end of 2025, we’ll be transitioning all of them to 100% cotton keeping your skin soft and safe.
